In Windows XP it was much more straight forward. Does anyone know if this is another bug in sysprep? Friday, February 5, PM.
This is not done at the sysprep stage anymore. Instead you can inject drivers offline, i. Saturday, February 6, PM. Adding drivers in Windows 7 is different from Windows XP deployment. Follow Clean Reinstall Windows 7 which has the driver steps printed in red so they can't be missed. You really only need the LAN driver to get online to run all of the Windows Updates, then afterwards if any are still missing in Device Manager you can import them from the same place.
If you have access to Windows 7 now you can back up the drivers using Freeware Double Driver - backup and restore installed drivers. But I'd not replace any drivers Windows 7 or Updates provides unless performance requires it. After Windows 7 retail type clean install there were functioning Drivers all with Microsoft digital signatures. Does OEM provide generic Microsoft drivers like the retail versions do?
I no longer have key for my retail copy. In the Device Manager right pane, locate and expand Portable Devices or Other Devices , depending on which one you see. Right-click the name of the device you connected, and then select Update Driver Software.
