Other uses can result in injury to the operator or damage to the generator and other property. For parallel operation, use only a Honda approved parallel operation cable kit optional equipment, see page when connecting one EUi Companion to either an EUi or another EUi Companion generator.
Please Register Your Generator If your dealer did not collect registration information from you, please take a few minutes and register your purchase with Honda. Knowledge Read and understand this manual.
Other service tasks that are more difficult or require special tools are best handled by professionals and are normally performed by a Honda technician or other qualified mechanic.
Page 79 Tubing, fittings, seals, gaskets, majual clamps associated with these listed systems. Do not allow the starter grip to snap back against the generator. Never connect different generator models. Lever, Link Carburetor No. Replace the spark arrester if it is damaged. EUi or another EUi Companion generator for parallel operation see page.
The system ground is not connected mamual the AC neutral wire. If the generator has been used, allow it cool for at least 15 minutes before loading the generator on the transport vehicle.
OPERATION If two generators were connected for parallel operation, disconnect the parallel operation cable after stopping the engines if you do not wish to resume parallel operation. Oil may leak and damage the engine or your property. Page Servicing Your Generator Remember that an authorized Honda servicing dealer knows your generator best and is fully equipped to maintain and repair it. To ensure the best quality and reliability, use only new, Honda Genuine parts or their equivalents for repair and replacement.
However, we cannot warn you of every conceivable hazard that can arise in performing maintenance. Only you can decide whether or not you should perform a given task. Failure to properly follow maintenance instructions and precautions can cause you to be seriously hurt or killed. Page Maintenance Schedule 1 Service more frequently when used in dusty areas. Refer to the Honda shop manual for service procedures. Refill the fuel tank if the fuel level is low.
Gasoline is highly flammable and explosive. You can be burned or seriously injured when handling fuel. Loosen the maintenance cover screw and remove the maintenance cover.
Remove the oil filler cap. Check the oil level. If it is below the upper limit, fill with the recommended oil to the upper limit of the oil filler neck see page Reinstall the oil filler cap securely.
Reinstall the maintenance cover and tighten the maintenance cover screw securely. Loosen the maintenance cover screw and remove the maintenance cover see page Reinstall the air filters. Make sure that the rubber seal is set in the groove of the air cleaner cover. Reinstall the air cleaner cover, and tighten the air cleaner cover screw. If you operate the generator in very dusty areas, clean the main and outer filters more frequently than specified in the Maintenance Schedule.
An incorrect spark plug can cause engine damage. Inspect the spark plug. Measure the spark plug electrode gap with a wire-type feeler gauge. If the engine has been running, the muffler will be very hot.
Allow the muffler to cool before servicing the spark arrester. Clean the spark arrester as follows: 1. Remove the four 6 mm screws, and remove the muffler protector. Use a brush to remove carbon deposits from the spark arrester screen.
Replace the spark arrester if it is damaged. Check the muffler gasket; Page 60 Drain the fuel tank and carburetor see page Unscrew the fuel tank cap see page 44 , remove the fuel filter, and empty the fuel tank into an approved gasoline container. Change the engine oil see page Remove the spark plug see page 53 , and pour approximately one teaspoon 5 cc of clean engine oil into the cylinder. Crank the engine several revolutions to distribute the oil, then reinstall the spark plug.
Reinstall the spark plug cap on the spark plug securely. Select a well ventilated storage area away from any appliance that operates with a flame, such as a furnace, water heater, or clothes dryer. Protects the generator by shutting the engine off when low oil is detected. Meets USDA standards for areas where spark arrestors are required for operation. You can rest easy, knowing your generator is covered from top to bottom for 3 full years.

Fuel efficient - runs up to 8. Advanced inverter technology - reliable power for computers and other sensitive equipment Honda's inverter technology means stable, clean power in a smaller, lighter package. Easier oil changes A bigger oil filler opening, longer spout, and larger oil drain gutter make for easier and cleaner oil changes. Better overall durability It's the little things that show a product's quality and durability.
Electronic Circuit Breaker Protects the generator from an overload condition. If the circuit protector switches OFF automatically, check that the appliance is working properly and does not exceed the rated load capacity of the circuit before resetting the circuit protector ON. However, the DC circuit protector does not prevent overcharging. It indicates that the generator is producing electrical power at the receptacles.
In addition, the output indicator has a simplified hour meter function. The overload indicator red will stay ON, and after about four seconds, current to the connected appliance s will shut off, and the output indicator green will go OFF.
Your safety is your responsibility. A little time spent in preparation will significantly reduce your risk of injury. Knowledge Read and understand this manual. Know what the controls do and how to operate them. Familiarize yourself with the generator and its operation before you begin using it. Do not place flammable objects close to the engine. Before beginning your pre-operation checks, be sure the generator is on a level surface and the engine switch is in the OFF position.
For your safety, do not operate the generator in an enclosed area such as a garage. Pull the starter grip lightly until you feel resistance; then pull briskly in the direction of the arrow as shown.
Direction to pull Do not allow the starter grip to snap back against the generator. Return it gently to prevent damage to the starter. Under normal conditions, use the following procedure.
Turn the engine switch to the OFF position. If two generators were connected for parallel operation, disconnect the parallel operation cable after stopping the engines if you do not wish to resume parallel operation.
Plug in the appliance into the receptacle. Turn on the appliance. If the generator is overloaded see page 30 , or if there is a short circuit in a connected appliance, the overload indicator red will go ON. A faulty appliance or power cord can create a potential for electrical shock.
Page Ac Parallel Operation During parallel operation, the Eco-Throttle switch should be in the same position on both generators. Connect the parallel operation cable between the EUi to either an EUi Companion or another EUi generator following the instructions supplied with the cable kit. Follow the instructions included with the parallel operation cable kit. Maximum power in parallel operation is: 4.
The DC charging output is not regulated. This means that the charging output is constant; it does not decrease as the battery reaches full charge. Check the battery voltage frequently while charging to prevent overcharging the battery. Page 37 If this happens, wait a few minutes before pushing in the circuit protector to resume operation. The circuit protector does not prevent overcharging the battery. Stop the engine. Disconnect the battery charging cable from the DC receptacle of the generator.
When appliances are turned on or reconnected, the engine returns to the proper speed to power the electrical load. Page Standby Power Check local regulations for proper registration and use procedures. System Ground Honda portable generators have a system ground that connects the generator frame components to the ground terminals in the AC output receptacles.
The system ground is not connected to the AC neutral wire. Oil may leak and damage the engine or your property.
